Flowering oleander lines the winding dirt road that leads to the former mansion from Artà in the east of the Balearic island. The finca surrounded by olive and almond trees is a particularly good example of the much touted “other” Majorca away from the tourist centers. Behind sturdy stone walls we find light-filled rooms with subtle Majorcan minimalism designed by the owner, an interior designer. Archways and centuries-old beams have been preserved while white cottons and linens lend lightness to the ten junior suites.
