Chopin spent the winter of 1838/39 in the Carthusian monastery at Valldemossa with his lover George Sand. This period is described by the writer in her travelogue “A Winter in Mallorca”. Their former monastic cells, numbers 2 and 4, have now been converted into a museum. You can also see the composer’s Pleyel piano and numerous original documents. He completed his famous 24 Préludes in the romantic and gloomy halls of the monastery.
