Developed in the early ‘70s Baros was once an uninhabited coconut tree plantation. Since that time it has been transformed into a lush patch of beach side and over-water villas in the midst of a private and tranquil lagoon. Just outside the lagoon by way of a short sunset cruise, the resort has conceptualized a pop-up restaurant on a secluded sand bank. In a three-hour gourmet dining experience, seven chefs prepare an array of dishes with a sommelier on stand-by to offer pairing suggestions from the house wine cellar.

Back at the resort, the Lighthouse restaurant is a favourite and a fixture of the property. The two story over-water building exudes a relaxed European elegance and provides guests the freedom to arrive barefoot for sundowners in an upstairs lounge before heading downstairs for dinner, all the while enjoying 360° views of the sea and sky. The resort takes extra special care to hire professional chefs from many different regions of the world. In this way, any meal a guest chooses to order (whether steak or sushi) will be an exceptional one.

In 2010 Baros created the first eco-friendly dive centre in the Maldives. Since that time they have added an associate marine program dedicated to conservation. It monitors the house reef and allows guests to participate in the planting of new coral. Additionally, special “Fluo Night Dives” equip divers with lights that expose the biofluorescence of marine life to reveal amazing and otherwise undetectable colours. Whether aimed at the novice or the expert, the dive centre team creates personalised diving programmes to ensure safe and extraordinary experiences.
