In 2011 the Waldorf Astoria opened its doors in the legendary former Shanghai Club, directly on the Bund. Old Sicilian marble floors, original triangular lifts, and the Long Bar are among the treasures in this famous hotel. Where notorious tycoons once sat at the 111-feet-long bar, today a glass of champagne goes perfectly with the 1920s men’s-club atmosphere. Guests pass through the historic building with its neobaroque façade by way of a light-filled passage into the modern section.
