THE PENINSULA TOKYO
PHOTOS MAPS

It was the first freestanding hotel building that was allowed to be built in Tokyo in over a decade, and architect Kazukiyo Sato took advantage of the opportunity: He modeled the 24-story tower after a traditional Japanese lantern. Opened in 2007, the hotel graces the entrance to the Ginza shopping district. The Japanese idea of harmony influenced the interior design of the 267 rooms and 47 suites. It was achieved by subtly coordinating noble woods and natural stone paired with earthy hues.
