This boutique hotel on Chinatown’s lively Ann Siang Road is actually named “The Club Hotel by Harry’s Hospitality.” And this Harry (known also for the chain of bars with the same name) apparently has a soft spot for black and white. This color concept is used consistently throughout this snow-white building from the 19th century. The 22 rooms feature a modern, minimalistic design along with calligraphic wall paintings inspired by the district’s Chinese tradition. A larger-than-life-sized statue of city founder Sir Raffles is a reminder of Singapore’s colonial past. In the Ying Yang rooftop bar, guests can enjoy a light breeze while nibbling on tapas, and the B28 whisky bar offers hundred-proof refreshment to live jazz music.
