What was originally planned as a one-year break from New York’s urban jungle has become a sustainable life-project for Rory and Melita Hunter. After sailing the southeastern Koh Rong Archipelago with Cambodian fishermen, the two were entranced by the deserted beaches, prompting them to open the region’s first luxury resort between two islands connected only by a suspension bridge. The driftwood furniture, artwork made from shells, and the accents from old fishing boats enhance the castaway-chic style throughout. The uncompromised luxury set in a stunning tropical seascape with alabaster beaches, rainforests, and utter privacy makes for the perfect romantic getaway. Locally, the two islands are called Song Saa—Khmer for “The Sweethearts.”
