When you enter your room at the Ritz-Carlton, you immediately notice two things: the rooms are enormous, and you can open the windows—at least partially. And you’re even in New York City! The telescope is little more than a gimmick, since the Statue of Liberty looks close enough to touch even without magnification. In hurricane season, however, the hotel’s prime location right on the waterfront is less than ideal. After all, when Irene raged over the city, the Ritz had to be evacuated.
