RAFFLES HOTEL SINGAPORE
PHOTOS MAPS

The name Raffles alone evokes associations with a colonial world long gone by. Innumerable legends are linked to the white structure from 1887 with its slender columns and the polished wooden floors on the terraces where the rich and famous of the British empire hung out, ranging from Somerset Maugham to Rudyard Kipling. The building has long since been renovated from the ground up, but the original silverware and china from the early years are still in use today.
