“Heritage chic” is what Loh Lik Peng calls the style of his New Majestic Hotel in Chinatown. In the lobby and in the 30 rooms, young artists and creative minds from Singapore’s design, fashion, and film scene combined vintage furniture from the 1920s to 1960s with ultramodern objects and expansive murals—supplemented with cutting-edge interiors such as aquarium-like baths and floating beds. Also spectacular is the pool with its round bottom window looking directly into the Cantonese restaurant.
