A day begins with the promise of a magnificent view of a dark, shimmering lake and the best breakfast in Ireland. Breakfast is prepared by chef Wade Murphy, at Salt, the gourmet restaurant at Lisloughrey Lodge on Lough Corrib. The Victorian mansion set in the rugged landscape of Connemara has been given an unconventional interior. Deep red walls, velvet covered chairs combined with dark leather furniture dominate the bar and lobby. In the 50 rooms of the two new buildings, the eye is drawn to the modern floral wallpaper and the high, leather-covered headboards of the unbelievably comfortable beds.
