As soon as the richly inlaid wooden gate closes, the deafening noise, dust, and confined spaces of the Medina of Marrakech seem miles away. However, this small and very personal sanctuary is located right in the heart of the fascinating old city. The Sultana consists of five riads, or traditional Moroccan courtyard houses. They are decorated with precious mosaics and artistic ornaments; the walls are coated with tadelakt, a polished lime plaster with a luxurious look and feel. A lush courtyard garden filled with the sound of birds makes the illusion perfect.
