Anyone who has stayed at this jungle hotel knows that it’s not always about being beachfront. This gem is made of six villas on the 2,600 feet up on the verdant slopes of the Osa Peninsula. The ascent is certainly worth one’s while, with superlative views over the rainforest canopy extending to the Pacific. The brainchild of a biologist and an architect, nature and luxury have a symbiotic relationship at this resort: Materials like balsa wood and bamboo bring the tropical vibe within the otherwise sleek rooms, while the glass verandas and sliding walls bring the rainforest practically within the rooms. Though the beach may be quite a few miles away, the saltwater infinity pool is a decent compensation, with panoramic views, a lounge, and a bar.
