Protected as a historic monument, the hotel’s 1911 façade is a highlight in Bern’s old town, which is itself a UNESCO World Heritage site. While the façade was carefully restored, the hotel’s interior underwent a 50-million-franc renovation to prepare the Schweizerhof for the future. Connecting the building’s history to contemporary elements is a theme that recurs throughout the entire hotel. Modern designer lamps are juxtaposed with the original chandeliers and marble columns. The expansive bathrooms in Lasa marble featuring rain showerheads and deep Japanese soaking tubs are another highlight.
