First came the legendary cake. Then in 1876—44 years later—the son of the inventor of the Original Sacher-Torte opened the Hotel Sacher. It has been an institution ever since, preserving the typical Viennese charm in a most exquisite way. However, since tradition alone doesn’t satisfy demanding guests of today, additional stories were added in 2005. This created 43 new rooms, kept in a contemporary style, as well as a spa where treatments involving chocolate—what else?—are a major attraction.
