HÔTEL LES DEUX ABBESSES
PHOTOS MAPS

There once was an enchanting mountain village bordered by two rivers built in the 12th century from basaltic rock, in the heart of Auvergne. As time passed, so too did the idyllic village, until it was faithfully restored in 1999, being transformed into one of the magical hotels in France. Twelve small houses and the château make up a total of 14 accommodations—each one its own wonderland. In La Grange, a former barn, the beds and wardrobes are made of birch trunks. In Maison Coupé, an old bread oven on the terrace reminds of the Brothers Grimm—instead of a television, guests have splendid views to enjoy. The terrace-like gardens, with old ruins of an abbey, one would expect the white rabbit from “Alice in Wonderland” to scamper by.
