It is impossible to imagine the Promenade des Anglais in Nice without the landmark dome of the Hôtel Le Negresco. Or the legendary belle epoque hotel without its owner, the 87-year old Jeanne Augier, art collector, patron, and confidante of celebrities like Dalí or Niki de Saint Phalle, whose sculpture in the entrance area represents a masterful stylistic incongruity. All artwork is original, including one of three surviving portraits of the Sun King (the other two are at the Louvre and in Versailles).
