Shanghai’s landmark has returned. The renovation of the iconic Art Deco building lasted three years. The hotel’s original appearance was meticulously restored, from Italian marble floors to the Lalique glass art. The new Presidential Suite is an homage to Sir Victor Sassoon, the creator and former owner of the hotel, who lived here and hosted dazzling parties. In the 1920s, his construction of an eleven-story building in the swampy Yangtze Kiang delta was a pioneering achievement.
