Two extraordinary golf courses are located to the south of Dublin—and surprisingly enough, they are parkland courses with nary a view of the ocean to be had. Nestled between the two courses is a resort that offers modern luxury without unnecessary flourishes. Planners thankfully chose not to go the route of fake battlements for the new construction, nor did they install gardens that might look out of place. The hotel is a functional interpretation of elegance; here, golf is what matters. Druids Glen winds through a seemingly enchanted woodland landscape, while Druids Heath is a more open golf course where a constant wind affects every swing. Some of the par-3 holes at Druids Glen are among the most beautiful in the world. A perfect place to relax after a round of golf is the Fairways Bar, where patrons can enjoy a good selection of beer and whiskey, and juicy hamburgers will satisfy hearty appetites.
