The intoxicating scent of lavender and herbs fills one’s nose shortly upon arrival in the beating heart of Provence: Luberon. Crickets chirp synchronically with the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves. Hidden amidst olive groves on a hill, in a 60-acre nature preserve, ten villas reframe the surroundings. Owner Olivier Massart, photographer, event planner, and art collector, and his wife Patricia converted five objects into the villas: each a small art museum and living space in one. Each of the spaces offers open bathrooms and private terraces with access to the gardens, yet no two is quite alike. For socializing, the turquoise infinity pool, the indoor/outdoor lounge, a small spa, and a restaurant provide for ample space. The library is enticing, even on sunshiny days one would normally spend outside. In July and August, guests can enjoy dinner in the treetop dining room, with Provençal cuisine on a wooden platform 23 feet up in the air.
