Palaces, romantic churches, vineyards—even the region’s name creates visuals of the perfect vacation in France: Burgundy. With views of the picturesque landscapes in Mâconnais, this 11th-century palace changed ownership numerous times, until a German couple gained ownership in 2011, transforming it into a hotel. Today, the completely renovated structure can host up to 20 guests within its walls. From the double-rooms to the holiday home for up to eight guests, every room here is carefully decorated—naturally with French antiques. The atmosphere here is very familiar, in the typical chambres d’hôtes style: a high-class bed and breakfast with a pool, tennis court, and a hamam.
